Ashanti Douglas, popularly called Ashanti was was born in Glen Cove New York United States on October 13th 1980. She is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Ashanti was a teenager actor and singer American, has been signed to Murder Inc. Records to record in 2002. She appeared in The Fat Joe's What's Luv? song that the same year. The song "What's Love?" by Fat Joe as well as Ja Rule, entitled Always on Time are both massive hits. The songs of Ja Rule include Foolish (number number one) as well as What's Luv! The first female artist holding both the highest two positions on the Billboard Hot 100 in America, with Foolish at number one and What's Love? Let's celebrate this momentous occasion by celebrating it together. Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, also called Ashanti, was born on 13 October, 1980 at Glen Cove New York. Tina Douglas, her mother is a former dance teacher. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. She is the eldest and Kenashia Shia Douglas is her younger sister. Douglas chose the name Ashanti Shia Douglas to honor the Ashanti Empire from Ghana where women ruled the roost and were highly influential. Douglas wanted Ashantis to take this as a model. James, Ashanti's grandfather has been a prominent civil rights advocate alongside Martin Luther King Jr. back in 1960s. The Ashanti's mother discovered her talent following her performance of Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti appeared on Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992) as well as Ted Demme's Who's the Man? as an extra in her youth. There were also a couple of performances in music videos like K.R.S.-Act One's MC's Don't Know and 8-Off's Ghetto Girl. After being courted for years by various record companies, including Bad Boy, Jive and other companies, Ashanti struggled to be an artist. Despite receiving no major breakthroughs however, she continued to play in New York. Ashanti performed as the vocalist backing the Big Pun's How We Roll. She also appeared on the Fat Joe track What's Luv? Ja Rule's Always on Time and Fat Joe's There is Love. The debut single Foolish features a sample of the song by DeBarge from 1983, Stay with Me. Ashanti released her first album, titled "Ashanti" in 2002 on Irv Getti's Murder Inc. Record Label. The Declaration was her fourth studio-album, was released in June of 2008. Hey Baby (After The Club) came out on radio stations and digital platforms on 16 October. She was Latasha on Army Wives and starred in the movie Christmas in the City.
